Blues Radio Stations:

These are stations that primarily play Blues music, a uniquely American genre that developed in the South from a long tradition of African spirituals and work songs. Although quite simple in nature, the Blues have evolved into different sub-genres, depending on the regions to which it migrated and the different artists which it influenced. Depending on the stations they will feature different mixes of the Blues in its various forms, from the earliest recordings preserved on rare scratchy records, to its later jazzier, more electrical incarnations.

Stations that predominantly play Blues music are rare, but many college, and public radio stations devote segments of their programming to blues music.

Typical artists heard on these stations include: Howlin' Wolf, Robert Johnson, Johnny Otis, Lightnin' Hopkins, Louis Jordan, Smokey Wilson, John Lee Hooker, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Taj Mahal, Elmore James, Memphis Jug Band, Muddy Waters, B.B. King
